Summer is Almost here!
With the long winter nearly behind us, we are hard at work at the lodge readying for our guests arrival. Pipes are being thawed, snow is being shoveled and the our fantastic staff are preparing for flights from all over the country. As the day of our first clients approach, the time is also here to fire up the Great Alaska Adventure Blog! If you know of anyone who would like to receive these posts, please feel free to pass them on. I'll be focusing on a number of items in the future posts: fishing reports from our local rivers, oceans and bay, Wildlife sightings and other Nature-based occurrences that our guests may be interested in. Of course we'll post "photos from field" from our guests and guides, so if you are coming to Alaska, it's a great way to anticipate your big trip and share where you are going with your friends!
"This week At Bearcamp" will, as always, be a big feature of the blog, and I'll pass on our resident "bear whisperer" Caprice's thoughts and images from Chinitna Bay. Our guests will be flying to to the camp daily to view the bears from our raised platform, as well as learning about the bears behavior and seeing Caprice's favorite, the spring cubs learn from mama all about life in the wild. If you enjoy wilderness, wild bears and the wild life, then BearCamp is for you!
Fishing Reports will be another big topic in the weekly posts- photos from our guests best catches (and stories about the ones that got away!). Our guides will be targeting giant Trophy Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden with fly and spinning rods on the amazing Kenai river, jigging for Offshore Halibut and bottom fish in Cook Inlet and Resurrection Bay and trolling for Kings along the coastal beaches. They'll put their clients 10 separate runs of 4 separate salmon species (King, Sockeye, Silver and Pink) on as many as 5 different river sheds near the lodge. We'll also be reviewing any regulation changes, water conditions and weather reports or other items that affect our daily fishing success. Be sure to "follow" the blog to keep up to date on all the fishing reports for this summer!
We'll also be reporting on events at Jungle Tarpon Lodge and Holbox Fly Fishing Lodge- our two warm weather destinations. The blog will feature fishing reports, client stories, great images of trophy Tarpon and incredible wildlife and much more. Summer is a great time at both destinations, so if giant Tarpon and amazing wildlife is up your alley, then be sure to check them out.
Jump for Joy! As a new item on the blog for 2013, we'll be issuing Last minute specials, only available to those who are followers of the Great Alaska Adventure Blog. Guided Halibut or Salmon fishing charter add-ons, reduced rates for BearCamp add-ons or float plane return to Anchorage for the price of Commuter air...we'll even offer full packages at great deals in specific time frames. That's it for now- Thanks so much for being here, and I look forward to sharing the summer's events with you!
